Meet Raymond Ortegon: Paralegal, Barton & Associates, Attorneys at Law

Raymond’s path to the law began not in a classroom, but in a jury box. After serving on a jury for a month-long trial, he found himself captivated by the legal process — the strategy, the advocacy, and the profound impact attorneys have on people’s lives during their most difficult moments. That experience convinced him it was time for a career change.

Before making that shift, Raymond spent nearly two decades building a career in logistics, working with some of San Antonio’s most recognized companies, including H-E-B, HoltCAT, and the Toyota manufacturing plant. That background gave him a strong foundation in organization, problem-solving, and managing complex, detail-driven work — skills that translate directly into legal practice.

In 2020, Raymond graduated from the Paralegal Program at the University of Texas at San Antonio and has worked as a paralegal ever since. For the past five years, he has focused primarily on family law, helping San Antonio families navigate divorce, custody, and other sensitive legal matters with care and diligence.

Raymond’s pursuit of education hasn’t stopped there. He recently earned his Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and is currently working toward his Bachelor’s Degree, with law school on the horizon.

Outside the office, Raymond is an avid outdoorsman. He spends much of his free time kayak fishing, camping, and hiking alongside his wife, Lynna, and their dog, Benji. Together, they’ve set a goal to visit every state park in Texas.
